I'm lucky I live in New York City. As a photographer, there is so much to shoot so near at hand. Most of the images are self-explanatory, but the series of the abandoned building requires some elaboration. This building is not far from where I live and by sheer luck I have access to it. It is an old building, built during the 1880s, and has long since fallen into disrepair. A few people still live there and the building is well maintained. But many of the floors have been entirely abandoned for several decades. Shooting there was not easy: There is no light at all in the corridors; some rooms have been exposed to birds for many years; to protect myself from the decades of bird droppings and huge accumulation of dust, I had to wear several face masks and was completely covered in protective clothing. Even in winter I was hot. Still, I think it was worth it.
