All the images you see on this web site are created by me. Up to recently, I have been shooting 4x5s, using a Wisner Traditional, a Wisner Flight field camera and also a Toyo Monorail G. Now I've "graduated" to 8x10, with a Deardorff; my primary lens is a Kodak Ektar 14" lens. My film of choice is still Kodak's Tri-X TXP (320), which I shoot at EI250, developed in HC110(b) at 1:10 if printing with silver gelatin; if the image is for platinum printing, I use D23, a low contrast developer (plantinum printing requires a different tonal range than does silver).

When I print on silver gelatin, I use Bergger's Prestige, a high-silver content fiber paper, in a variety of sizes, from 8x10 to 16x20, and also in 20x24. Larger sizes are available (but not in Bergger paper). The paper is developed in Dektol and all the prints are toned in Kodak Rapid Selenium Toner (KRST). The papers are washed and dried by hanging. On occasion, some prints are spotted.

For the last two years, I have been studying platinum printing with Koichiro Kurita. I have been using normal negative enlargement on Bergger's BPFB-18, a blue-sensitive film, and more recently Arista's Othro Litho film called Arista APHS, which is available up to 48"x100' rolls from FreeStyle Photographic Supplies. The drawback of the Arista is that it is difficult to find the right developer combination to produce negatives suitable for the platinum process. I use Arches Platine paper and a typical pt-pd sensitizer solution from Bostick and Sullivan. The print is cleared several times in oxalic acid and thoroughly washed to archival standards. I also follow Dan Burkholder's methodology for producing digital negatives on an Epson 2200 printer with Pictorico's OHP Transparency Film.

Images of my platinum prints will be digital photographs of the finished product.
